Houses of Stone refers to the ancient ruins of Great Zimbabwe--one of many inspirational locales in sub-Saharan Africa for this game's alternate-history world.

You find yourself in what we would consider Africa (sub-Saharan) in a medieval timeframe. Greece, Rome, Britain, and other European and Mid-Eastern civilizations have attempted to colonize the Dark Continent and left settlements scattered about, never managing to take over.
There is much darkness in this place--a mystical and magical presence and force that refuses to allow men to tame it. This land is wild--there are tombs, dungeons, ruins, and so much more that are filled with the spirits of ancestors, of animals, seeking to protect the heart of Africa from being cultivated by human hands.

Tales from the Hotel Kaladarian Episode 1

My name is Carter Soles of "The Lands of Ara" blog, and I am running a Swords and Wizardry WhiteBox game at 6pm Eastern / 3pm Pacific / Midnight Berlin time on Monday, 17 October 2011.

The only two houserules being added to S&W WhiteBox Rules (besides  typical Lands of Ara class and race restrictions -- see houserules at http://carterscartopia.blogspot.com/2011/09/tales-from-hotel-kaladarian.html) are Shields Shall Be Splintered! and Critical Hits and Fumbles.

Tales from the Hotel Kaladarian

Head on over to The Lands of Ara, where Carter Soles is plotting and scheming for a new online-only ConstanCon Lands of Ara campaign called, "Tales from the Hotel Kaladarian." He's hoping to get the game rolling this October, using the Swords and Wizardy White Box rules. Some house rules and guidelines are already up over there. Oh, and he's abiding by the FLAILSNAILS Conventions.
